Distribution: Recorded in Gulf St. Vincent and upper Spencer Gulf

Habitat: Rocky and sandy areas

Depth: Intertidal to 10+ metres

This introduced crab is an aggressive hunter in the intertidal zone. It has a green to brown carapace with 5 spines on either side of its eyes, and does not have a pair of swimming legs. The markings can be variable, but can include a series of light lines on darker parts of the carapace, and dark spots on lighter areas. If caught in South Australia, this species must not be returned to the water.
