Caulerpa brownii - Sea Rimu

This distinctive green algae consists of thick cylindrical upright branches that rise from spiny runners. The upright branches are also spined, with tightly-packed spiny ramuli that point upwards, towards the end of the branch. The branch structure, and orientation of these ramuli along with their density characterises this species, which is unlikely to be confused with any other.
