This small barnacle is commonly found on rocks in the upper intertidal zone. Their appearance can be variable, but they always have six plates that are solid, even when eroded. They can be confused with the small Austrominius barnicles, which have four plates. They can also be found in tight aggregations that resemble those of Chamaesipho tasmanica, but on close examination, the six plates of each individual should still be visible.
