Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters

Habitat: Rocky areas and reef

This rigid branching algae is white to pink in colour and is found on rocky shores worldwide, particularly in and around the rims of tidepools. Its branches consist of flat wedge-shaped segments, with smaller branches sprouting from the top of each segment on each side. There are a number of similar species, but the flat wedge-shaped segments distinguish this species from other coralline algae.
