Golden Kelp is the most common coastal kelp species in South Australia. As its common name suggests, it is golden in colour, and attaches to rock via a holdfast and relatively short stem. It has thick, rippled and broad-bladed fronds, features that distinguish it from other species of brown algae, and is a habitat for many fish and invertebrate species.
