This solitary ascidian is distinctive for its bright orange test, and the filaments on the end of its siphons. Its body is globular, and occasionally heavily-encrusted, and its siphons are of medium length with either four blue patches on the outer edges, or four black lines down the inside. It is found amongst rocks, and on jetty pylons.
