Meridiastra medius

This 6-armed cushion star is usually found under rocks, and is a pinkish purple to red in colour, often mottled. Unlike the more commonly encountered M. gunnii, it does have a small dark spot in its centre, but this is nowhere near as large as that found on Meridiastra occidens or oriens. It usually has light grey tips on the end of its short arms.
