Size: Colony size to 15+ cm

Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters

Habitat: Rocky reef on rock walls. Jetty pylons

Depth: Subtidal to 10+ metres

This transparent jelly-like colonial ascidian is commonly found on veritcal rock walls and jetty pylons. It is similar to a number of species in Polycitoridae, but can be distinguished by the white streak visible in each zooid. Accepted as P. gracilum in Australia, it has recently been reclassified as a junior synonym for the Japanese P. fragile.
