This air-breathing snail is commonly found on rocks in the intertidal zone, along with its spiral egg masses. It has a limpet-like appearance, with large radial ribs, alternating with smaller ribs, although it can also be heavily eroded, with ribbing only apparent at the edge. It can be distinguished from Cellana tramoserica, with which it shares habitat, by its flatter profile and smaller size.
