Synoicum sacculum

This bright red colonial ascidian can be found on rock walls and jetty pylons. It consists of small cushions, each containing several circular systems, each with a common cloacal aperture in the centre. Strands of basal test are often visible where it attaches to the substrate, and it often has a sparse to moderate coating of sand, especially in the narrow depression between systems.
