Size: Plant 1.4 m

Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters

Habitat: Sandy or muddy areas

Depth: Mid intertidal to 10+ metres

Found in sandy or muddy tidal pools as well as in the shallow subtidal zone, this thin seagrass consists of dark stems, which are diagnostic, with clusters of narrow green blades that have flat to rounded tips. This is one of the few local Zostera species that can be reliably identified without examining the (usually buried) runners or rhizomes that connect the stems.
