The elongated and streamlined Snook is actually a member of the barracuda family (Sphyraenidae). It is common in bays, where it occurs in the mid water column, darting either up or down to snag a meal. It is similar in appearance to the Longfin Pike (Dinolestes lewini), but is much more slender and lacks the yellow tail.
