Size: 40 cm

Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters

Habitat: Sandy areas

Depth: Subtidal to 10+ metres

This silvery whiting is slender, with a large eye. Unlike the King George Whiting (Sillaginodes punctatus), it does not have spots on its back. It is similar to the School Whiting (Sillago bassensis), from which it can be distinguished by its slightly more robust form, and opaque white to yellow margin on its pelvic fin.
