Size: 30 cm

Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters

Habitat: Rocky reefs and jetty pylons

Depth: Subtidal to 10+ metres

This yellow or occasionally cream sponge encrusts rock reefs and although its structure can vary depending on wave action, is notable for its honeycomb structure. It can be mistaken for the branching Holopsamma arborea, which aside from not having a mound or sheet-like form, also has a much less open honeycomb structure than H. laminaefavosa.
