This translucent solitary ascidian is found attached to rocks in the intertidal and shallow subtidal zones. The two siphons are arranged perpendicular to the body, allowing them to be enclosed by a flap of test that folds over the top, protecting the siphons. This is a distinctive feature that characterises this species.
