Euprymna tasmanica eggs, with young visible inside
A small relative of cuttlefishes, this species is the most common of the Bobtail Squids (Family Sepiolidae) found in SA. It usually lies buried under sand during the day, emerging to hunt over seagrass and soft bottoms at night. It is iridescent and covered in black spots, which help to distinguish it from other similar species (including the bottletail squids).
