This small chiton is difficult to distinguish from others in its genus. It has a wide fleshy girdle, with tufts of long spicules. Its valves are covered in small flat-topped, teardrop-shaped pustules, and the triangular jugum is striated with broken lines. Its pattern and colour are variable, but it is often found in mottled creams, browns, greens, reds and yellows.
