Idiotropiscis australe - Southern Pygmy Pipehorse

This small pipefish is very well camouflaged and rarely encountered. It is usually found attached to seagrasses and algae, where its brown to reddish colouration and filaments help it to blend in. This species resembles the Hairy Pipefish (Urocampus carinirostris), but that species differs in colouration and has much finer filaments.
