This bryozoan is epiphytic on algae and seagrasses, growing completely around the stem in a cylindrical/tubular shape. The colony has ridges that form a vague, but broken spiral around the colony. It is very similar to a number of other species, including Densipora corrugata, but can be distinguished by the long spines that are present in between the apertures.
