Distribution: All SA coastal and gulf waters east of Tumby Bay

Habitat: Rocky coast, under rocks

Depth: Lower intertidal

Of all the nondescript brownish flatworms found in SA, Notoplana australis is the one that shows the most variation, from almost white, as well as in various shades of brown and orange, to almost black at its darkest. It is easily recognisable from its white tenticular bumps, with eye clusters in their centre.
