Actaea calculosa - Facetted Crab

This distinctive crab is a pale pink colour to a deep red. It spends its time under rocks in the subtidal zone, and is fast moving if disturbed. This crab has a pustulose carapace, and is very similar to Actaea peronii. However, that species has much more pronounced pustules on its claws, and along the front edge of its carapace.
