This gastropod is found under rocks and ledges, or in seagrass beds. Although variable in both form and pattern, it has a flat spire, with a large aperture, and tends to be covered in wavy spiral markings. This species is venomous, and should not be handled. There are a number of different forms found in SA, but it is widely accepted that all are the same species, due to the continuous variation between them and geographical coverage.
