Bembicium vittatum is commonly encountered on rocks in the mid to high intertidal zone, sharing this habitat with the similar Bembicium nanum. It can be distinguished from this species as it is generally flatter, does not have prominent stripes on the lowermost whorl, and is usually less eroded. It is generally an off-white colour.
